PREMA is a grain originator operating in the northeastern region of the state of Mato Grosso and the southern part of Pará. The company's CNPJ was registered on August 14, 2013, but its story truly began in 2003, when my siblings and I acquired a farm in the municipality of Santa Cruz do Xingu, and I moved there in 2004. It was during this period that I laid the foundation for the company by getting to know ranchers and farmers who today form our solid network of suppliers.
My professional journey began as a trader at Atman in Mineiros – GO, a company that was later acquired by the American firm CHS. After a few years, I briefly worked at Ceagro, now known as Agrex, and was a partner at Jatobá in Jataí – GO for six months. Later, I had a six-month experience at the Chicago Board of Trade, returned to Brazil, and began PREMA’s operations working from home as a soybean and corn broker.
PREMA understands the strategic importance of delivering food from where it is produced to where it will be consumed, acting as a crucial liquidity agent for local production. As the son of farmers, I saw the need to increase the number of buyers and distributors for products like soybeans and corn in the region. That’s how PREMA was born—with the mission of connecting producers to consumer markets efficiently.
In 2013, PREMA acquired the land where its current headquarters is located in Confresa – MT. At that time, the only trading companies sourcing grains in the region were Cargill and Bunge. In the following years, other major companies such as Louis Dreyfus, AMAGGI, and many others joined us in this market.
Between 2014 and 2017, PREMA was significantly strengthened by the benefits of Prodeic, a tax incentive offered by the state of Mato Grosso for the sale of grains to other states in Brazil. We expanded our soybean and corn sales operations, especially to the northern and northeastern states, from Belém to Recife.
Starting in 2018, PREMA shifted its focus toward exporting soybeans and corn, emphasizing the northern export corridor. Since then, we have completed sales to every trading company that operates or has operated in this corridor—a milestone that fills us with pride and satisfaction.
A key strategy at PREMA is the simultaneous buying and selling of grains. We purchase production directly from large producers in rural areas, focusing on those with their own storage facilities, and sell at the port, ensuring a continuous and efficient flow. We handle the transportation and sale at the port, optimizing logistics and securing the best profitability for our partners.prema.agr.br
In 2020, we opened a branch in the southern region of Pará, in the city of Redenção, and carried out our first restructuring project, reviewing processes, securing funding, and expanding our commercial team.
In 2024, we began construction of our own headquarters and launched the company’s second restructuring project, which includes implementing a large-scale ERP system, hiring a management consultancy, appointing an Operations Director, and revising our market strategy.
May God continue to bless us with prosperity for our suppliers, customers, employees, and the communities we serve.
